Breast Augmentation (Breast Implants)

When is breast augmentation with gel breast implants indicated?

Breast augmentation is indicated to add fullness to the breast improving shape and proportions; breast augmentation can also improve appearance during ageing and after breastfeeding, restoring a more youthful appearance. However, sagging breasts will require a breast lift, which can be performed with or without gel breast implants.

What types of breast implants does Dr Bukret uses?

Dr. Bukret uses FDA-approved gel breast implants such as Mentor and Sientra (by Silimed). Also he commonly uses Mentor, Eurosilicone, and Motiva which are approved by Health authorities in Europe and Argentina.

Dr. Bukret will assess your case to determine which type of gel breast implants are the best for your individual case depending on factors such as positioning, surface texture, shape, and personal anatomy. We will help you to select the implants that will best suit your anatomy considering previous history, personal wishes and other health considerations.

What kind of incisions do we use?

Dr. Bukret uses periareolar inferior (lower half of areola) approach for most of the cases; although, for some cases we prefer sub mammary approach or armpit incision according to the anatomy of the patient and previous surgeries.

Which advantages do periareolar incision has compared to submammary or armpit incisions?

The main advantages of the periareolar incision are due to the excellent visibility during surgery; therefore this permits better control of symmetry avoiding the more common complications; the quality of scar is excellent in most of the cases, and does not interfere with breastfeeding after surgery.

Which plane does Dr Bukret uses to place the breast implants?

Breast implants can be placed sub-glandular, Subfascial, sub-muscular or dual plane. The optimum implant location will depend on the size the patient wants, personal anatomy, and other factors related to your goals and expectations.

Why do we use textured breast implants?

Dr Bukret prefers to use textured silicone gel implants since they have proved less rate of capsular contractures compared to smooth implants; capsular contracture is one of the main reasons to replace the implants in long term. Therefore, textured breast implants prevent capsular contracture in long term and significantly decrease the need to replace the implants.

Should I replace the implants after a time?

Breast implants replacement is necessary only when there is a complication like capsular contracture, which can cause you symptoms like chronic pain. Other reasons to replacing implants are shape distortions, asymmetries or infrequently rupture of implants.

How long does breast augmentation surgery take?

It takes 1 to 3 hours.

What kind of anesthesia is used for breast augmentation?

Dr. Bukret generally uses deep sedation (technically known as neuroleptoanesthesia) for most breast augmentation. This is always used in conjunction with a local anesthetic to reduce discomfort during and after surgery.

When a breast augmentation through fat grafting is indicated?

Breast augmentation with fat grafting is indicated for patients who desire a subtle and natural breast augmentation without using breast implants. The main condition is to have enough fat to transfer from other areas; an additional benefit is obtained by laser liposculpture

How long is the recovery time after breast augmentation with implants or fat transfer?

Breast augmentation by fat grafting has a shorter recovery period and less discomfort compared to breast augmentation with implants.

After having breast augmentation with implants you should expect to be doing normal activities after 10 to 14 days; submuscular approach produces more discomfort and recovery could take longer.

Which are the post-operative care measures and treatment?

  • Antibiotics
  • Post-surgical physical activity is restricted for the first two weeks
  • No sunbathing for three to four weeks post-op
  • A surgical bra must be worn for the first six weeks post-op
  • Sports activities can be resumed one month following surgery
  • Sutures are removed between seven to twelve days post-op

See these considerations about pre and post op care, which also applies for breast augmentation.

How much does a breast augmentation cost?

Costs for breast augmentation and breast lift will vary according to the complexity of the case, the type of breast implants, and the facilities where the procedure will be performed; you should expect to pay in Argentina two times less than in US or Europe for our high standard quality medical service.

Ask Dr Bukret for your breast augmentation evaluation and he will be pleased to recommend what’s best for you!
